I've just acquired a 15' 8/9 Winston 'Derek Brown Favourite' and need advice on an appropriate floating long-bellied Spey line. Various articles suggest that the 8/9 is a very powerful double hander and rated for 130ft+ distance, but is probably more like a 9/10 than a 8/9.
I'd be grateful for some help regarding lines as this is my first foray into DH Spey. I know that some time spent with a Spey coach would be a very good investment, but there aren't many (any) near Brighton.
I'm also after a reel and due to the weight of the rod at 13 1/2 oz a heavier reel is recommended (the Waterworks ULA Force 4 not giving adequate balance whereas the Hardy Salmon #3 was better).

It may be worth trying the Carron 9/10 line, it is widely regarded as the best of the long belly lines.

Yes, I've been looking on their website at the Jetstream 9/10 with a 75' body, but I don't know if this is "right" for the rod (I have sent them an email asking about the rod / line match). Reply from Carron " recommend a 55 foot 9/10 line 44 grams or a 65 foot 8/9 44 grams line for this rod". I guess that these would be the new two-colour lines.
