I have a friend who drives a smart top of the range German saloon car. But when he steps out at the fishing parking area his feet are clad in a pair of old floppy wellingtons , so as that he can kick them off and get his waders on and into the water more quickly. Do any forum members have friends with quirky habits

never mind friends i wear a pair of slippers to drive to the river then put on waders it saves alot of time with no laces ;D Am I the only man to drive to (and from ) a venue in his waders? I have also worn trousers over wet swimming trunks and mud encrusted rugby shorts to save a few seconds of my life - but that must have been at least 28 months ago. I have relocated from one fishing mark to another when the waters away, with a tackle box on me back, 5mm neoprene waders with rubber boots, a balaclava with "Midnight Sun" style headlamp (and switched on a couple of times) , covered in crab juice, worm and hockle from my consumptious pal Geordie. Maybe not the best tactics for Salmo but I am open to suggestion

Hello charliethompson strange to say the same friend who turns up in floppy wellies ready for a quick change also turns up ready booted and wadered ready for the fray. Then there is Neptune see above with his carpet slippers in a 4wd desperate man indeed. tweedsider

Always wear sandals when driving to/from the seatrouting. This means [glow=red,2,300]The Monsters [/glow]don't have that 30 second window of opportunity to leap upon me whilst I'm bent over tying my bootlaces in the pitch dark!!

Slip-on sandals:
Out of car, one foot out of sandal, same foot & leg into wader, stocking foot of wader back onto sandal; second foot out of sandal, second foot & leg into wader, second stocking foot onto second sandal. Foot one off sandal, and straight into boot, foot two off sandal into second boot.
Result: no wet/muddy socks from ground, no mud/grit from ground onto sole of stockingfoots; clean & comfy day!
End of day, reverse process.
Mike
PS. the above is ONLY for the days I don't have my manservant to put my waders on for me! ;D ;D
