Hi all just bought a 10ft bob church powerweave and got a real Snowbee prestige La #790 how do I set up the real thanks I take it this rod is for trout and line weight suited is in the range of #6-7. This rod will be a good stoat rod, heavy compared to more modern rods, but will do you for the foreseeable future. The reel I believe is a carbon cast reel and while strong will be light, thus making the rod possible feel heavy in the hand. Not to worry, now assuming the above line weight is correct you need to get a line of the weight indicated on the rod, and some backing. Load just enough backing to allow you to load the line fully onto the reel as well. Try the coiled fly line against the backing on the reel, to give an approximation of how much backing you will need to load. You may have to remove some backing if there is too much loaded. Better to have as much as possible to save the fly line fron being loaded too small a loop and having memory coil when trying to cast it out. Stick some leader nylon on the fly line and tie a small pc of wool onto teh end and practice, practice, practice till you can cast a line out smoothly onto the water or lawn if big enough. Here is a few videos to help you I can send you some flies if you tell me whether you wish to concentrate on rivers or Lochs/still waters. Good luck and let us know how you got on. k
