Too bloody right I have signed it. Arrogant individuals with no concept of real hardship should keep their big silver spoon fed mouths shut and not attempt to belittle the sorry situation of all of us oiks who dare to demand to be fed and housed. Let them eat cake. No I am not a communist but I do believe in a fairer more equal society

IDS was making a general comment about being able to live on £53 week. The jack the lad market trader will be pulling more than that no doubt.
But as that seems to be the average Benefit payment, once your room tax reduction etc has been taken into account, there won't be left much in anycase. So it won't be far away, so the challenge should still be - try it for a few months, not just a week.
One week wouldn't prove a lot in his case, but once the whole picture of bills come in, then he will or should understand how small an amount that really is to live on.
I couldn't.
