Have just booked a days fishing up north through fish scotland & it mentioned you must tip ghillie,,do not have a problem with this but find it a wee bit cheeky a mate o mine was fishing lower tweed last year he got poor water to fish & had a bad day whilst the other bloke had 4 fish,,anyway when he left he was driving through field & ghillie ran across field with hand out,practicaly demanding tip what are your thoughts on this?

I think it's up to yourself if you want to tip the Ghillie. There is no hard and fast rule about it, for me anyway. I would not be running after a client looking for a tip, that to me is poor.

Fishqueen, Just as a matter of interest, could you please add the Fishscotland link for the beat where you did the booking. Seems quite bizzare that any proprietors or letting agents would feel it necessary to add such information and especially embarrasing for the Ghillie. Serves absolutely no purpose, unless they are feeling guilty about the size of their Ghillies wage packet, and intend on the guest supplementing his wages, which is an entirely different matter. Nothing to say with regard to tipping, apart from we've been through all this before on previous threads. It's entirely up to the individuals concerned and their perception of the service provided.......
