This video is 50 minutes long and is a Martin Falklind Film. If you are thinking of going out to Russia then this film will certainly whet your apetite. This is not an instructional film, but more an overview of the ecologicaly fragile areas of the Umba, Eastern Litza and Kharlovka rivers. Footage shows the fantastic scenery and also a monster Salmon coming to a dry fly! Enjoyable armchair fishing.

Its a good video- I fished this year at Kharlovka in similar conditions to the guys fishing lower Kharlovka in the video- You could barely stand up in the wind!
It is sad -There are such good interviews with the natives of Umba village about conservation and 'harvesting interest rather than capital' and how catch and release was a foreign concept to Russians but now they are embracing it- They are quite passionate about it.
Since the video was made the Umba's run has been destroyed by trawlers in the estuary and out of season poaching. It is now no longer a viable destination. It goes to show how vulnerable these rivers are.
