No, not the 60s rock band, but a crystal ball gazing exercise.
What tackle improvements or changes can we expect, or hope for, in the next 10 years?

I would second the waders issue. Thinner / Higher BS leader material. Solid hooks, No brittle snapping types. Auto whanging oot rods. Rivers stuffed with fish . C&R Flees to replace those killer types i fish with . Doon the middle devons. Cheers Hornet

Beware of rabbits when propping your rod outside the hut for lunch!

I think the revolution will be in plastics;
better handling fly line cores, coatings, tips, hybrid monofilaments, and better abrasion resistance and for the heat tolerance and strain handling during the creation of knots without substantial loss of breaking strain.
It's all in the polymerisation techniques

I'd agree Mike, there scope for improving all the things you mention.
........and how about a midge repellant that has a 100% success rate!

If someone invented a pair of glasses that allowed you to see every fish in a pool, would you buy some?

NO!
I just wouldn't want to know.
There are already available very portable ultrasound fishfinders (wristwatch & bankside monitors with castable floating sensors) which can be tweaked (aerial-wise) to get a signal from over 100 yards away - useful to get to know bottom contours & structure where you don't know the water, but not really very practical for running waters.
Better to not know, just use watercraft, and 'the nose' for a fish!

I agree Mike, it would just take the mystery out of it for me.
Might as well stay at home and play 'bass fishing' on my daughter's playstation!

my wish would be for everlasting waders puncture proof for life but this will never happen as the makers would only survive 1 season then be out of buissiness
