I met a guy at Murmansk airport last year on my way home from the Kharlovka. He had been fishing the Kola river that week and had caught 19 salmon averaging over 20lb. At Heathrow I bumped into a guy I had fished with at Kharlovka in 2006. He had been fishing the Kola and had caught an estimated 35lber.
What can I guy do? I booked that week as soon as I got home, so a friend and I are going out on 31st May to try our luck. The guy at Murmansk turned out to be Speyducer and it turns out I know six other members of the team going next year too, so I am looking forward to it.
In terms of Travel Agencies, Laxa are swallowing the angling travel world at the moment. Anyone wanting the chance of a fish of a lifetime at reasonable price should check out one of the four remaining rods at Kola the last weekof May ( the week before Speyducer and I go) The weather may be cold, but there will be 40lbers in the pools.
I moved my Kharlovka week back one week anyway, and am going out with a different group of friends the week after, so I have two solid weeks of chasing Kola silver.. Hurry up 31st May..
