I have just returned from a hot and sticky Game Fair, why is England such a long way away. I had the Speycasting trophy in the car.
No of course I did not win it but gave Gordon Armstrong a run home.
Results 1st Gordon Armstrong 53 M 2nd Ryan Brady 50 M 3rd =Knut Sorstead 49 M Ruairi Costello 49M 5th Blair Banks 6th James Chalmers
James had rotten luck picking up a lump of weed and never really getting it clear. Blair Banks broke his Clan rod in qualifing and was using one of Scott Mackenzie's
The top four were using Carron Competition lines, Knut had a rod made from 50% Partridge and 50% Loop, the others used Carron rods.
I'm tired and burnt out hopefully James will add his usual pictures

I would have thought that the organisers would be able to sell / market such casting competition videos, and therefore have these filmed professionally, edited, & sold in DVD (or video) format; ordering could be done during the fair.
Certainly, for those who can't get to such events over such a weekend (like myself), the availability of such DVD / videos would be quite attractive.

You can catch this years CLA on Sky TV's Horse & Country channel. The spey casting is on Sky channel 280 at 10.30 tonight (Horse & Country channel). I caught the tail end earlier this evening and saw James Chalmers cursing the pond weed ;D and Gordon whacking out a winning cast. Well worth a look.

............., why is England such a long way away. .......... There are some in both Edinburgh and Westminster who would be perfectly happy if they were even further apart!

I hear a whisper that the CLA game fair is no more, not sure how it affects the Scone one though.

I hear a whisper that the CLA game fair is no more, not sure how it affects the Scone one though. Your ears are working well. They cancelled the Spey casting last year, then look what has happened the rest of the show has gone! I heard a few years ago the only shows that made money were Bleinheim and Bellvoir so it struck me as strange they went North to Harewood House.

It's a shame, I went to few of these in the 1970's through to the late 1990's, always a great day out.
