I have some time free for fishing next week (for a change) trouble is i have so many places on my "to fish" list I'm not sure where to go. i see the Dee has rods available? all my fishing this year has been on the Tay system so needing a change? interesting to hear where other forum members would head.

I think the Dee would be an excellent bet at this time of the year. As you say it is always nice to fish new water as well.

Looks like it might turn around to a northerly on Sunday, so get yourself on a left hand bank beat. Any fish in the upper river will not have seen much, so maybe try a beat above Aboyne?
Looking at availability I would go for Aboyne one day, unless you fancy splashing out £125 on Park?

Salmonscotty16lb,
You do not need to be a long caster for the North or South Esk. Both are fine small rivers that allow you to cover most beats using a 11ft single hander up to a 14ft double hander if the river is up. There is a report on the website saying that some fish are starting to show.
It takes me about 20mins drive from Dundee for the South Esk and 30mins for the North Esk.
Check out the availability via Fishesks. Sinkingtip has given a cracking guide on both in the river section.
The Dee on the other hand is a superb river and is a must to fish on anybody's list. The reports from Graham are excellent and only wet the appetite. The daily catches of Springers has been good so you could well be in with a decent chance of hooking a fish.
Where ever you choose i hope you have a gid yin.
Cheers
Hornet

thanks Graham and hornet the north esk is another mouth watering prospect but price wise i can get a get a day on the holly grail river Dee for same price to be honest my thinking was between the Dee - north esk - deveron. its a hard one as i have never fished any of the above and all 3 sound great and think I'm going for 2 days on the Deveron near the end of the month PS sink tip has sent me a pm in the past about the Esks and not returned the favorer sink tip u now have a pm

Yo Scotty ! - take a day on the North Esk - Kinnaber or Canterland (pics in the "rivers" section) .... hit it on the head at dark 'o clock, check yer spaver and jump in ra motor. Head over Cairn 'O Mount to magnificent Royal Deeside if you get somewhere around Aboyne, or shoot up to Stonehaven if you decide to fish 'further doon' (Graham Ritchie's yer man). Find a bonnie wee hotel with matching barmaid ..... few drams ..... kip ...... up early .....hearty breakfast (mind the black puddin) .... then down we jolly well pop to ra river. Back doon the Glenshee road at the end of the day to Blair. There ye go - sorted ...... wish I was coming Regards STip
