I have a couple of days off next week and don't know where to fish - any advice? I was thinking of any of the following; Usk - Giving it one last attempt for the season. Lyd / Tamar / Exe - Can do as day trip. Welsh Dee ? Tyne - What's happening? Annan - Seems good numbers of fish running at present.
Or any other suggestions, without having to travel much further north of the border.
Regards
Carl

Hi Carl, I don't know the other rivers you mention, but the Annan is having a hell of a good run of fish at the moment. I'd keep an eye on the river height though! Tight lines where ever you go Mike

Reports elsewhere on the internet suggest the Tamar/Lyd would be a good bet. Even without further rain I don't think you will be troubled by low water after the last two weeks! The Exe is giving up a steady trickle of fish, it seems like it was more productive a month or so back. The constant big water may have spread the fish right out, some have been taken very high up on the moor. I will be fishing it next week and I don't expect to blank Andy

Thank you for the advice, I'll be heading to Devon next week (family coming), so will try to get a bit of fishing in (Exerod, robmason - any advice on beats, tickets, etc) and will be going to Glan Usk on Friday (unfinished business on the Usk). May try to get further north for a couple of days before the end of the season.
Tight lines
Carl

Exerod... well done on getting the hat trick. 8-)x3 What kind and size of fly do they take down your way? Cheers hf Cheers. They take a size 6 or 8 Ally's, I've never found the need to give them any other choice! The problem is getting them up to where I fish, once they are here they will take anything if there is water. But saying that I blanked today Carl, Your best bet my be to contact L. Nicholsons www.lancenich.f9.co.uk/They may be able to point you towards something. They issue tickets for a beat on the Barle (it used to be the upper beat of the Carnarvon Arms Hotel) which will be well worth a cast or two, there have been fish coming out above and below this beat over the weekend. Bridge House Hotel in Bampton have (or had, I haven't heard much about it recently) a beat on the Exe. Hope this is up to date www.bridgehouse-bampton.co.uk/Don't forget the Dart and Teign. Fish coming off the Dart AA water and also up on the Duchy water up on Dartmoor. Tickets for the latter from most hotels and post offices (if they haven't all been closed...) on the moor. www.dartaa.org.uk/Tight lines! Andy
