Was wondering does anyone have any knowledge of salmon or trout fishing on this loch? Have downloaded this brochure: www.lochlomond-trossachs.org/upload/file/publications/LochEck.pdfwhich gives some basic info such as where to get premits. Am over that way from tomorrow till Sunday so if anyone has any knowledge to share it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nolon.

Hi. I've fished Loch Eck a lot in the past but havn't made it over for a few years now. As per the map , the loch runs near enough North/South. What the map doesn't show though is that with the exception of the North and South ends it's surrounded by mountains which in turn are riven by numerous very steep valleys running down to the water's edge. This can make finding a decent drifting breeze entertaining to say the least. And dodging the waterspouts exciting at times. The wind can fairly blast down the wee glens. This is probably why trolling was certainly the most popular method on the loch. Boats can be hired from the Coylet Inn and permits purchased there also. If you're fishing the fly , the top end can be excellent as it's quite shallow for the most part . Alternatively , the shingly banks off most of the burnmouths can all be worth a go. April 's probably a bit early though , with most of the fishing done from June onwards . Given rain of course. Hope that's of some help. B.

B, Many thanks for the info. It's a weekend away with the wife so your advice will certainly help me make the most of any few hours I am granted to have a cast. Will take my 8wt with some trout and salmon flies and see if anything feels generous enough. Cheers, Nolon.

There's a very early "Hooked on Scotland" with Paul Young fishing the river Eachaig that flows out the south end of the loch.Other members may know more about it than me,but I seem to recall hearing that it used to be a fantastic sea trout river.Don't know what it's like today. Anyone know??
