Some good catches come from the tail John, not that I caught anything in that pool so far, but can see its potential.
Agree the scenery is superb.

Hi Kenny. I never made it down to the Falls Pool when I fished the Lochy a couple of years ago. Does the FP consist of the flats above the rough water also - or are we into a new pool ? Good work.

Hi Kenny. I never made it down to the Falls Pool when I fished the Lochy a couple of years ago. Does the FP consist of the flats above the rough water also - or are we into a new pool ? Good work. I would say that the falls pool really starts at the far end of the shingle bank that can be seen in the first part of the footage Andy, and above that is Rock pool and then Rail end beyond (yes this beat and beat 4 both have pools named Rail End) above that. Its more or less a continuation of one long, slow at times flat after Rail end. Most fishers I believe will concentrate from that shingle bank down and nearly over the lip of those falls. The name "Falls" is a bit misleading as it doesn't have any sheer drops, more a fast downhill gradient that fish can swim up with relative ease, when compared to reall falls. Even Seals can get up it!! and I have seen a few above those "falls" over the years.

Nice one Col, and in what is my opinion, another fine example of correct C&R. The only contact with the fish is a grip on the fish's tail with a wet hand.
It makes me cringe to see fish held in against ones dry clothing; no need to take away the fish's protective mucus lining. Not sure if others think the same?

I had a wee inkling about this run , and rewarded with a coloured hen fish around the 5 th cast in...it's a tight spot with an overhanging tree and a great place to take a fish
Andrew the video way certainly helps with C&R.

I was waiting for the take on every cast, nice pool!

I don't know Col but the fishing in Nova Scotia is free I think - I remember this from Paul Young:

I love the way they tail them by hand, a real art in itself , especially the girl in the link i put up, very skilled...they play the fish hard too which i like and the recovery time for the fish is no time at all. I have my self tailed fish for people on the odd occasion, and someone who handles the fish well is probably the most important factor. She would make a great partner

Nice fight Col. That fish sure had som go in it. Was the fly dipped in chilli oil or something I think tailing is a lot easier than it looks. Most people will grass a tired fish without hesitating but get a bit scared when they have to get hold of fish which is still swimming upright and at risked of being spooked. When the fish get to stage stage where they can be led like a dog they are easy to pick up - honest guv ;D ;D The hardest bit for me was the very first time you do it for someone else on s decent size fish and you are thinking I hope I don't f*gg this one up ;D ;D ;D
