You arrive at the pearly gates and St Peter says you've been a good angler and you've returned lots of salmon. By way of reward, you can spend eternity fishing your favourite salmon pool. Which pool would you choose, and why? You can assume that pools in heaven are always at the perfect height for the fly. Difficult choice for me, because I haven't fished that many rivers outside of Wales. I liked Hart on Boleside on the Tweed, but it's right hand bank and I prefer LH bank to be honest. Glenmayne on Boleside was nice, but much of it is a smooth glide and I like playing fish in fast water. Wall Pool on Conwy has been good to me, nice streamy water at the neck, a nice long body and tail, and I caught my PB salmon there. The scenery is also fantastic, with the moutains running down to the edge of the river: If it wasn't the Conwy, I'd probably be choosing a famous pool on the Spey or the Gaula - for the attraction of catching a big salmon in strong water.

Come on guys, I want to hear about all those gorgeous pools on Spey, Dee, Tweed, Lochy etc etc. The ones that have perfect fly water and you always look forward to fish with eager anticipation. Like this:

I would go for the next pool up at Delfur, which is Broom. Sourden at the top of the beat is also rather special. My brother fishing the tail of Broom The tail of Sourden, with the fly coming over the hotspot and my gillie watching intently.

Graham, was it Delfur where you lost a monster a year or two ago?

Would happily go for any one of:
Rhynd - Wester Elchies Slobs - Lower Pitchroy Carron House Pool - Carron Griggles - Carron
I have never had a fish out of any of them but they are all superb pieces of water.

the one with the sort of platform on the right bank, a bit above the hut. Dave, the one with the concrete walkway immediately above Polarder. It fishes well from both sides though the right bank is favourite.
