Andrew
Its the very top pool, the one above the stream, that not a lot of people walk up to,its usually a well rested pool, great place to finish in the evening.

Mr Borthwick always seems to dismiss it, and so it really doesn't get fished much but Tom Chantler had a nice fish out of it after hours during our week this August.
Carron has lots of nice pools but Delchapel is the daddy for me, it didn't let me down this year again- A couple of licers landed and a few more lost.

James, Holly Bush or should it be Holland Bush is a cold bugger of a place in the Spring, but a great place in the Autumn as the sun is kept off the pool in the afternoon.
Beaufort, seldom included in the draw, you can have it to yourself next year, both sides all for you.

Was Beaufort not the top spring pool this year Malcolm. ;D I'll pencill you in for it if you like, me I'd rather have Collie/Broom and Sourden but never let it be said I was keeping the pair of you out of Beaufort.

Simon I think you will like this picture,Delchapel is a cracking pool, you must have had it to yourself that week due to geriatrics and drunkards who couldn't cope with the wading. James Chalmers

Cracking photo of Delchapel James.
Do you rate the pool for early spring fish or do you think it comes into its own later in the year for the summer fish / grilse?

Dave
Delchapel fishes well at any time of the year if the water is the right height I.E. 1 foot 2 inches or less.If my memory serves me correct the first fish of the season came out of there in February a few years ago. The fish tend to rest for a little while here after running up through the long stretch of hard water from Wester Elchies and Dellagyle below. Its a very exciting pool to fish and can be a difficult wade, but very rewarding when you land one on your own ,as you have to play the fish whilst wading deep before you bring it to the bank at the end of the fight, as there a lot of awkward boulders close to the bank. Some of my fishing party have had some memorable days in Delchapel, one in particular who calls it heaven had a great time a few years back when he landed 7 fish down there weighing 12lb,13lb,14lb,16lb,17lb,18lb and 19lb,he could not get the 15 pounder. The best day I have had on it was 4 fish to 14lb in June

Thanks James.
No wonder your party member calls it heaven after a day like that!
