It looks like it is made by Dingley but possibly marketed by Martin of Glasgow.
Are they left hand wind? They look like they should be but the line looks as if it is wound for RHW??

They are all made by Dingley and are all genuine left hand wind. Dingley originally worked for Hardy then set up for himself making reels for all the well known tackle dealers of the day,is it a Mallochs of Perth or a Macphersons of Inverness. Can you take a good photo of the check mechanism for me again as I have one the same and I am looking for a spare pawl, as mine has a right hand wind pawl in it,I could swap pawls with you if they are similar as I am a L/HWinder

Close WG they don't have a D mark on them, and are further north. I've loaded them for RHW, they have 2 pawl springs and 2 pawls assuming this is for right or left hand. What makes you say they look left handed. The tension adjuster should be in front of the foot, as James says your reels are left hand wind.

Q-n-Q Are ye sure its no an Alex Martin "Thistle" fae Aberdeen or a Sharpes. Dingley made reels for all these outfits, but did not always mark with a D. 3,5,7,and 17 were also his marks. Here is a 4/1/4 Alex Martin "Thistle" L/H/W with a missing pawl. If your 4/1/4 is for sale let me know, and you can steal a pawl out it ;D James Chalmers

Q-n-Q
It can only be a Charles Playfair reel then!! The eventual makers of the Grant Vibration rods
The spring and pawl opposite the adjuster are spares, you dont engage those or the reel will be really tight to wind in.

WG for W. Garden Aberdeen (Walter Garden) Without wishing to appear nitpicky, I think it's William Garden, isn't it? I'm fairly sure I've got an old greenheart rod in a bag labelled as such.
