I arrived home the other day and the tree was lit up and lot of sparkling lights adorned the windows and glass door panels. The kids had decorated the tree. Not quite to the same 'lightly dressed fly' standard that my wife normally does but rather overdressed rather like the box of lights and tinsel had been dropped from a great height. No matter the kids were enjoying it!
When I got to the kitchen I found an empty spool of 15 lb Seaguar sitting on the work surface. I asked my wife why the spool was there and she said the line was perfect for suspending the various Christmas lights around the windows. I agreed (of course) and pointed out this was the most expensive leader you can buy and asked why she did not use monofil off the kids spinning reels or off the old maxima spools in the cupboard.
After a few expletives and accusations of me being a tightwad she said she looked at all of them but used the Seaguar because it was less visible. That surely is good advertising for fluorocarbons!
Bah Humbug,
Your sincerely,
Tightwad ;D ;D

Could this be in reverse? Maybe there is a way of using some christmas wrapping materials for flies. I saw some gold holographic tinsel wrap in the supermarket yesterday and it was a very strong plastic tape at a fraction of the cost so it would be perfect for fly tying.

Salmo, You should have told the missus that the chameleon maxima was the one that was the most expensive. I'm sure telling her that it would have done the trick. Good idea all the same . Cheers Hornet

It gets worse. Tonight I find she has got some little boxes about 1" x 1" cubes. Inside there is some tissue paper and a little praline covered in dark chocolate. The outside has a plain dark brown matt wrapping paper.
Wait for it...
Whats do you think she has used for the wrapping thread all tied in a nice luxurious bow??
Best answer get a special prize...
