i often watch different fishing programmes, some very good tips are given on these. 1 such programme a certain angler was demonstrating how to "creep" up to the fish wearing dark clothes, polarized glasses he crept along the bank nearly on all fours being as quiet as possible then he LOBBED a massive piece of bait attatched to the hook that would have scared any fish within 5 miles ;D

They are such comical animals and eat mostly eels. The gun does not fix issues but causes issues big time. Kate

Tweed boatman told me that when the otter comes up through the pool at last light it in fact stirs up lethargic fish into taking. Another friend with long term association on the River says, "there was a reason for otterhounds in the past".

IMHO, the old addage that "its a poor beat that canna afford an otter" rings true!! unless you are fishing on a small river and in particular for "ceasers" the otter does no real harm!!, most folk assume when seeing chewed up kelts on the bankside the otter is to blame when in fact the real culprit is the "MINK" close inspection of the fish can prove this!!!. the otters main foodstuff is trout and eels! so in fact is the salmon anglers friend!!, and as a previous poster stated can "Gee the fish up"....again would state "its a poor beat that canna afford an otter"

just to clarify... the kipper killers were certain anglers who were killing very coloured fish without a second thought

as i say it was my local still water (its not clean) has no eels or salmon. it does have carp that the club pays £5-6 a lb for and more for a double. when you see a 7lb fish half eaten its a waste be it salmon, carp or tuna. p.s we shoot the polish that try eat them to ;D

That was the clutch whose parents seemed to have a territory between the Ash Tree and the Brig. They just vanished one at a time, their roost was the little grassy peninsula just above the Brig. No sign of a fox kill there. Someone told me that the otter would take them Any theories?? Tweedsider

I have seen a crow take ducklings, how big did the cygnets get before they met their end? F

Twedsider, She hatched 6 on the point of the island opposite the castle, held onto them till sept. then lost one. yes they dissapeared for a month but the remaining 5 were at the brig feeding on weed on the 30th Nov.
