Well my luvverly fellow forumites while out fishing today I fell and banged my heed or hied or call it what you will but the upshot is with a bout of extreme amnesia I cannot remember where I was fishing. Perhaps you lot can help me by identifying this curious piece of water. I would like to point out to the crackpot element among you and I shall mention no names Kendo Nagasaki, that I was not on the Manchester Ship Canal and not even the Suez Canal. The view upstream The view downstream The hail storm which appeared out of nowehere. There was bright sunshine and a cloud went over and there was hailstones about the size of teapots. The right bank More water A veritable storm of precocious fry that insisted on gnawing on my Gore Tex. In all the years I have fished I still marvel at the way fry do this. A big ole size 16 wading boot. Do these fry know just what they are dealing with? Yes they do and apparently they do not give a rats @rse A second bout of hailstones. C'mon then folks. Where the hell was I? www.silversalmon.co.uk

Obviously a heathen country if you were fishing on the Sabbath.

Looks like the garden of Eden to me. Just to avoid confusion could you also clarify the species of "fry". We don't want anyone thnking they were salmonids!

BnC it is not in fact the Garden Of Eden and in absence of large downward facing lower fins on the fry I would suggest that they are trout and not salmonids www.silversalmon.co.uk

The Lune? Some nice looking fly water. Johnnyboy you win a cookie. It is indeed the Lune and the beat is at Arkholme Viaduct. The best that I could muster were some pretty big trout which became fixated on a black and yellow monkey. I dare say had I been targeting them with a single handed rod and trout flies they would have probably viewed me with complete disdain and carried on about their business. There were some half significant hatches of Large Dark Olive, a little bit early in the year for them I know but let's not question ole Mrs Nature. My deepest hope this year is that the Lune recovers somewhat from a fairy disastrous season last year. The sea trout fishing however at Arkholme was as it always has been pretty exceptional. It was good to get out today with some iron on the end of the line since all I seem to do anymore is sling out chunks of wool for assessment practice. www.silversalmon.co.uk
