I still look in but I seldom see any posts. The other forum is full of people who know it all and then when you meet them they can not even cast. I use F.B.to keep an eye on my grand children. These poor youngsters of today who can not get a house, sad. Seams they go to Brussels/Prague/France and Thailand the way I go into the town when dragged there. Bob.

Well I'm still here and hope to get out this coming season, just hope we get some half decent water levels and that the fish can get through the swarms of seals that seem to be getting larger in numbers every year. There were 40 of them in Montrose basin the other day!! I still look in. Look at the other forum too but rarely post. This always felt like home.

I, too, am still here and am somewhat despondent about the lack of activity on this site which always provided a more balanced and knowledgeable information base than others. I do not use Facebook.
Hopefully, God and the virus willing, I will be travelling north for my annual week at R & A and will submit my usual report. Activity on the Spey seems a little slow so far but will, I am sure, will pick up. Whether or not it will pick up in time remains to be seen.
What is clear is that, whereas I usually break the journey just south of the border in a "pub with accommodation" and good beer, this understandably is getting difficult to arrange.

I still pop in occasionally. Its not looking good for me salmon fishing wise. With the virus, im stuck in Singapore till 15/5/20 at least. Ive had opening day on the Northie with too high water and that's it. Currently Singapore is fairinga lot better than the UK re Covid, but it could all change. 264 cases here since January, with no deaths and a population similar to Scotland.

Just checked in for the first time in months. I really seldom visit these days. Facebook has indeed taken over and to be honest is a lot less cumbersome to access and use than the Salmon Fishing Forum. Facebook Messenger makes messaging a whole lot easier as well. I think Proboards shot themselves in the foot when they mucked about with our photos. It was a complete turnoff and confidence was never restored. Anyway it looks as if we will not be fishing anywhere in Scotland in the coming weeks if not months. I managed three trips to the Spey and one to the Moriston before lockdown but sadly no fresh fish to report. It was very quiet and uneventful with virtually no surface activity. Sadly I think our salmon stocks are in very rapid decline. Well good luck anyone that gets fishing later on in the season. All our rivers are closed up here for the foreseeable future. Stay at Home and Stay Safe.

Spending time on this thing shows how we can not get out. Think a lot of us will go mental before this ends. One of my friends has put his tackle away for the season. Hope he is wrong. Bob.

I still look in from time to time. Not posted anything for a while but I enjoy looking back over all the old photos of beats and of course, the salmon!

Morning all, I'm sort of hopeful that we might be allowed onto the banks in June, so with that in mind I shall go and see if I can find my kit and have a tidy up just in case. Take care all.

There's a strong rumour that an announcement will be made on Tuesday regarding fishing being allowed.

Borrowed this as not all may have seen it...………………….
What extra rules will apply when fishing? These coronavirus rules are to help ensure that not only you, but also other anglers, gillies and walkers, are protected as far as possible. They will apply to all past and future bookings made through FishPal. 1. Social Distancing. Always keep at least 2 metres away from ALL other people on the river (unless in your own household). In particular do not shake hands with anyone. 2. Do not share cars, boats, huts, tackle, nets, crockery, food etc with anyone else (unless in your own household). 3. No longer expect any ghillie to shake your hand, set up your equipment, make you cups of tea, or drive you round the beat. Do not hand any tip directly to the ghillie. Leave it where it can easily be found. 4. Bring your own food and drink and do not share 5. Bring your own hand sanitiser and wipes and use regularly during the day, especially if you have to use any WC provided by the fishery (try to avoid if you can). Wash your hands regularly wherever possible. 6. Wear gloves when touching doors, gates, styles, fences or any equipment that is not your own. In addition you must use your own common sense at all times to reduce the risk of cross infection. If in doubt, don't do it!

Looks like the 29th should allow us to go fishing, I'm not booking anything yet though just in case.

Yes I’m as guilty as the rest for not coming on here oftener. But it’s just not here I have felt at times over saturated with social media in recent years and I kinda went off it. I’m not even on SFF nowadays and my other forums which consist of holiday, motoring and other non fishing versions. Even FB I’m now just on mainly for a look in the evenings and for various reasons don’t have it on my mobile. All of the above was taking too much of my time and mind!
But as said earlier FB has the market for quick picture / comment posting, but doesn’t have the accessibility of previous reports or records such as forums like this.
I’m retired now and hope to get out fishing a bit more once this virus has dropped sufficiently enough for safe travel. Of course fishing pails into insignificance when one considers the devastation it has caused to everyone effected by it.
I’ll be listening to Wee Nicky a bit closer today !!

I too am waiting for the "off" as it were, doubtful we can travel far so more than likely I will be on the South Esk next week looking for a Sea Trout.

Wee Nicky said try and stay local / five miles but it isn’t law, just be sensible etc Well I’m sensible and as it’s not law I may use my right to visit an opticians in Brechin area to see if my eyesight is ok, Tight lines to anyone nipping out to cast a line over the next few days and beyond.

Just looked in to see if anything new. Find F.B. mostly a waste of time although I use messenger a lot. Can not understand how folk certainly younger ones complain about it. Simple just not switch on. Look on S.F.F. most mornings to se how the rivers are doing. Bob.

Hi Bob, I have tried to generate some interest, posting when I fish, river reports levels etc, but it felt like I was talking to myself at times, as I said earlier, this was a great site that helped me when I began Salmon fishing in Scotland and it seems a shame that it is slowly dying due to lack of use. I visit every day pretty much, but no-one seems to be interested in keeping the site going, shame but I can't do it all on my own.
