Anyone do any Grayling fishing, if you do, where and how do you get on? I'm based in Angus so have to travel to the Tay or Isla, but if I am to travel further it would be nice to have a bit of info first. Ta

Hi Burnie. I don't fish for the 'silver ladies' myself but, I believe, on Tay the best of the grayling fishing is down towards the lower end of the river although the Tummel also contains a decent stock. I would imagine permits would be available via the local angling clubs.

Thanks Andy, I have fished the Tummel at Pitlochry and the Tay at Stanley, but didn't do very well, the Isla is my best shot closest to home, but the fish are hard to find. Fished the Earn too a couple of times, but only had Trout, I really fancy either the upper Clyde or the Tweed tributaries, but know nothing of the rivers, it's a long way to go fae Arbroath to blank lol.

Got my first Grayling of the winter on a fly from the Dean Water near Glamis, nice to be out and about.

I went Grayling fishing again this time on the lower Isla near Coupar Angus, caught nothing but a lad bait fishing had 3 small ones, does anyone fish it for the Salmon?

The Coupar Grange water upstream of Couttie Bridge does well for salmon as it's directly below the confluence of the Isla and Ericht therefore fish tend to build up there under certain conditions. The water directly below the bridge is a syndicate I believe - Islabank. below that you have the Keithick beats but don't know too mush about them. Not be long til the Tay opens again !! Cheers A.

Had a couple more trips out on the Isla after Grayling, using trotting gear and bait I managed 3 nice Grayling the best just over a pound, the river seems to be infested with Cormorants, they will devastate a small river like this, wondering if it is worth bothering fishing it again.
