This book is a large hardback of 286 pages. It contains numerous colour photos as well as a series of clear diagrams. Throughout, Simon uses a white coloured rod to allow it to be seen clearly within the photos. All the main Spey casts are covered including Switch casts and some things that Simon calls "weird casts". Not a replacement for good old instruction, but an excellent reference book that may get you trying different things. Cost new is about £30, quite expensive I know, but some secondhand ones may now be coming on the market ATB Robbie

The trouble with books and videos and I suspect a lot of 1-1 instruction is they don't cover the variables eg lift the rod upto 10 o'clock, no mention that this varies in relation to how much line you have out .
Nonetheless I agree , it is a nice book and complimentary to the video.

Simon Gawesworth's book is good and I too have the latest Rio DVD. However, I found the original RIO DVD International Speycasting more useful. He also sells a little white booklet of casting cards that are plastic coated. CF
