Hello All,
Thought I'd join the Salmon fishing forum out of curiosity really, see what I've been missing. I'm a member/ contributor on the seatrout forum for a few years and write a honest report for the River Dovey (Dyfi) when I get chance to get there.
I'm married with a baby boy- who was born on the 29th May this year- which has curtailed my seatrout and salmon fishing this season (his due date led to our party cancelling our spring week on the Deveron, and my night trips have been up and down stairs rather than to the river). Mind you I finished off the season with a 13lb salmon from the Dyfi yesterday (my first and last, unless the Nith picks up (on the Dalswinton beat WC 7th Nov)).
Hobbies- seatrout, salmon, flytying, shooting (rough & walk-one, stand-one) rifle shooting (due to associated fox paranoia having put birds down this year for the first time).
I usually get two weeks salmon fishing- a spring week (used to be the Carron and Brora) and an Autumn week (the Nith) and I've fished mostly in Scotland and Wales, with two rivers in Norway (nothing caught). I've fished the Tweed, Tay, Spey, Deveron, North Esk, Teith, Findhorn, Carron, Shin, Brora, Annan, Nith, Cree, Bladnoch, Towy, (Welsh) Dee, and the Dyfi.
That's about it,
Andy R

Hi Andy - welcome aboard and thanks for a very informative introduction. Hope you benefit from the forum in some small way. Where on the Tay and North Esk have you fished ? - just out of interest.

Salmo,
Thanks for the offer of keeping the user name, but I'm fairly secure in my sexuality- so unless anyone really minds I'll leave it as is ;D It's a bit of a faf to change it and really it should make much difference I suppose.
Sinkingtip- limited experience on the Tweed and North Esk; the Tweed was a few days hear and there when up on business to Edinburgh, mainly Upper Hendersyde- in the springtime- I couldn't afford an autumn on it. Only kelts caught..... though springers seen. As for the North Esk, it was Martin Stansfield's beat down at Kinaber- never caught a springer but plenty came past me- it was mainly in Feb and March, again a day here and there- so no great experience. The other rivers; Dyfi, Welsh Dee, Carron, Brora, Annan and Nith I've had weeks on over the last 12 years, so I'm got a little more knowledge on these.
Andy R (not a lady honest- if you met me you'd know, I'm 6'10'' tall and weight 24 stone- normally known as the 'big yin', or 'big Andy' north of the border)

Salmo,
I think I've re-assigned myself as male in the 'edit profile' section, I'll let you know if it sticks,
