Can any body out there recommend a good adhesive to re stick felt soles back onto wading boots. Thanks Lunesman One of my friends took his felt boots to the shoe mender in Aboyne Station Square and the guy did an absolute perfect job putting a new felt sole on. Depending on the shop you might have to take the felt to them. salmo

Have used aquasure i past for repairs with good results, ensure felt is dry & as free as possible from sand/grit, hold together with elastic bands till cured.

Use laccy bands by all means if that's all you've got, they'll hold the sole in place while the AS cures. I'd want to cramp the sole to the shoe and would use a g cramp or something similar.

Aquasure is probably good but sometimes the old felt can be difficult to get off so hence the cobbler approach. No need to answer "cobblers!";D ;D ;D

Aquasure is a sealant, not adhesive, and although it will do the job it has variable results.
I have done a number of pairs of boots using Bostic 2402. It is a 2 part contact adhesive used to make dive suits and inflatable boats. Done correctly is is seriously permanent. Most boots only have the glue around the outside, an once water penetrates the felt the water eventually forces the sole off.
After roughing the surfaces and cleaning with toluene I glue both surfaces with 3 coats, allowing to fully dry between each coat, perhaps 15 minutes and then cover the repair with cling film when dry, the glue cannot stick to this and this allows proper alignment. The slowly pull the film back and push down the felt. Ready to use in 2 hours, seriously permanent in 24 hours and never to come off again!
Bostic 2402 can be bought from most dive shops, but do not use the other bostics, they cannot survive the water heat and cold!

I've just tried Aquasure and it wasn't great result. Diverdave's advice is probably best. I tried a waterproof glue frpm B&Q but it soon failed.
