It's The Foggy - main tributary of The Misty below its confluence with The Water of Haar.

I know what you mean Graham - its definitely got that 'east coast' feel to it. Initially I thought it was the 'Northie' up the glen around Tarfside.

Despite the photograph, it is the water itself, rather than the name, which may lack clarity.

Maybe you might try an each way bet! You Sir are worse than the Times Cryptic Chinese Crossword ! After all the time I and others have spent helping you sort out your fishing snaps - is there not one that you yourself remember the name of without our help ? A tip - write the river name on the back. Black Esk - must be (my last £ each way) Or the Deveron at Foggie. M

If memory serves ...... historically, this stream has been better known for its sea trout than its salmon.

That looks like limestone rocks in the foreground. Could it be the Border Esk?

Sorry John - what with 'serial guessing' Santa's intentions this Christmas I guess I am am all guessed out ......... suffice to say, for information purposes only, that it looks remarkably like the Kirriemuir AC's water on the South Esk just before it enters the open expanses of Glen Clova.

Not the South Esk ....... nor even the Border Esk ....... quite.
The sea trout here will never have passed the Grey Stane but may have lain in the Black Kist.
