Nice pictures and it looks like a nice wee river there. Quite a few of the smaller rivers in the north east of Scotland look very similar. Most have a good late run of salmon.

Iain How far from Trondeim are you ? I would love to go back to Norway, but only if I knew that you had water when I got there. Not like my visit in June/July 2007

maps.google.no/maps?f=s&ie=UTF8&ll=58.893296,1.560059&spn=10.080075,44.033203&z=5&om=1&pw=2 Stavanger is about 900kms. south of Trondheim. The river when in spate can have good runs of salmon in the autumn. There is a piece about the Figgjo river on the Scandinavian rivers section. Robbie, in 2007, we had great spates at the end of July and the first week of August and from the end of August through September. I suppose you just missed them, unlucky really, but it's always a gamble with spate rivers. I think anyone visiting Norway to fish salmon would much prefer the Trondheim area to the Stavanger area. cheers Cheyenne

Cheers Iain, I was wondering about visiting again this year, perhaps this time travel with my car by ferry to Stavanger from Newcastle. Is that a feasible journey or would I be better off flying?

Robbie, I'm trying to reply to your enquiry but we've got a hellish storm here at the moment, one of trees in my garden has just split in two, a neighbours roof tiles are blowing off and the electric keeps cutting out . I hope this storm doesn't reach you guys. Bye Iain

Robbie, I suppose it's a personal thing. I always prefer taking the ferry as I can get all my gear with me in the car, but, the ferry crossing is pretty boring (21 hours). Car hire in Norway is quite expensive. I imagine that most anglers traveling to Norway would rather fish in the Trondhiem area than the Rogaland area, bigger rivers, bigger fish. The Figgjo river is now open for block booking(see Scandinavian rivers). This has to be a better fishing environment than what I've just seen on Reporting Scotland from the opening day on the Tay. Fishing on the beach, both sides of the river and only 5 rods, fly only. LUXURY: Cheers Iain
