near blairgowrie by any chance? I know what you mean HF - it does look similar to the footbridge just upstream of Brig 'O Blair at Cargill's Leap. Good call on Corrieshalloch BTW. ps - is that a jeans clad 'ripper' I see just below the bridge on the right bank ! ? - in that case it could very well be Blair !!

STip, not sure about the Corrieshalloch? Deveron loon must have had one of these rope swings made up surely. (tarzan calls as he is taking the photo No... It's a ploy to get another clue. You know.. North of Blair and south of Ullapool etc. Thanks for putting a name to 'somewhere near blairgowrie' (Brig 'O Blair at Cargill's Leap) and you're right about Blair.

Just as well I picked up the new specs yesterday. One in jeans below the bridge who looks like he might be Czech Nymphing from the angle he is standing at, and another geezer tucked in right below the left hand corner of the bridge (but on the same right bank) who looks like he is wearing complementary cream coloured cords with a 'lovat', Johnston's of Elgin, coloured jergie to complete the outfit. HE looks like he might be "shaking hands with the unemployed" if I am not sorely mistaken. Regards Stip (punter spotting a specialty) ps - sorry, cannae name them - but they look like "alright boys".

Had to jump out to a few rocks tae get that one. The guy below the bridge was actually salmon fishing - looks like he got his angles all wrong - an upstream allies shrimp, could this catch on???

Hi Deveron loon... nice photo and I like the angle you took it from. On a certain pool where I fish I will often place the fly upstream into the head of the pool, almost hugging the other side as it comes back down the current till it is opposite or slightly downstream of where I am standing. (pool only about 15/20 feet wide). The other point to note is that the flow of water enters the pool at an angle of about 45 degrees over my right shoulder. I am standing on the left bank of the river As the fly is coming downstream it is sinking and so may need a little bit of hand lining to avoid the bottom and then a slow retrieve back into the side. I have had a number of takes although most would be on the dangle. However I have had excellent takes as the fly hits the water in the white stuff. There is no mending of the line. I don't know if this counts as chuckin the fly upstream because of the angle the water enters the pool. highlandfisher
