Nice, but as Crocodile Dundee would say: "That's not an Alexandra, this is an Alexandra". ;D (not my tying) A great snake fly for sea trout. A friend does well on a size 8 Alex for sea trout, but the traditional Alex is a bogey fly of mine!

Oddly enough, as a dedicated sea trout fisher, the Alexandra has always been a 'bogey' fly for me. The fact that I never try it (certainly not for many years) probably doesn't help.

To quote a film line of my own from Bruce Willis in Die Hard " Ho! ho! ho! Now I have a machine gun. My snake however cannot hold a candle to yours Please excuse the wet varnish

Those snakes are excellent spaterunner, I definitely be happy to fish them on a dark night.

Some lovely variations above of the best sea trout fly bar none! The alexandra was always my first choice fly when I did a lot of night fishing. My favourite version was a very sparse thing on a long shank size 4 single. I can't find one in the old sea trout box but this one with a flying treble is fairly close (a bit heavy in the dressing). A tube version. Sparser, how I like them A couple of doubles. The second one looks ace but never caught a thing Lastly a tandem on stainless hooks for use in the salt. Hopefully this one will see some action this year. Andy

All nice examples. Anyway, despite being " the Dart fly", I never had any luck with it. Never tried the snake version though.

I like Charles Bingham's approach to fly tying. A bit of black and a bit of silver tinsell. A dead stoat found road side is a bonus, failing that where is the labrador?
