What are they, how are they used, and which ones are best for your fishing... www.flyfishusa.com/leaders/polyleaders/polyleaders.htmA range of polyleaders can be found at: www.flylines.com/Flylines_Polyleaders_Freshwater.cfmAirflo , who pioneered these accessories, offer freshwater polyleaders for trout, seatrout, salmon, bass, & pike Large range in clear floating, clear hover (slow intermediate), clear intermediate, slow sinking, fast sinking, super fast sinking, and extra super fast sinking, from 5’ to 14’ lengths, and from 8lb end tippet strength for trout, up to 24lb for salmon. I have a range of the 'extra strong' salmon 8' & 10' polyleaders, and they are very good. For those more exotic 'salty' destinations: www.flylines.com/Flylines_Polyleaders_Saltwater.cfmfor the bonefish, tarpon & others Mike

Sportfish have the full range (usually) of the Airflo Salmon/Steelhead polyleaders, and some extra strong Salmon polyleaders for those off to exotic 'big fish' locations. www.sportfish.co.uk/product/34179/Airflo_Polyleader_Salmon_10ft.htmlMODEL COLOUR SINK RATE Hover Clear Sinks 78 sec/m, 0.5 in/sec Intermediate Clear Sinks 26 sec/m, 1.5 in/sec Slow Sink Green Sinks 15 sec/m, 2.6 in/sec Fast Sink Brown Sinks 10 sec/m, 3.9 in/sec Super Fast Sink Light Grey Sinks 8 sec/m, 4.9 in/sec Extra Super Fast Sink Dark Grey Sinks 6.5 sec/m, 6.1 in/sec @£4.99 per leader When getting a set of these, perhaps a leader wallet would be useful, and so as to NOT get confused which polyleader is which, label these clearly in the wallet. How often do you think these poly leaders should be replaced? ie every couple of seasons? Cheers F

I usually just test them before use by giving them a sharp pull. I have had a couple break at the loop, probably just through lots of use weakening the knot. I have retied the loop and they have been fine. Some of my ones must be 5 or 6 years old now and seem fine.
