Hi Salmo
You might like to think about having a Suggestion board where we can post ideas about how the forum is set up.
Early days, and you have done very well in getting up and running so quickly.

Here's a suggestion is it possible to change the colour of the board as it looks very much like the other place.

Here's a suggestion is it possible to change the colour of the board as it looks very much like the other place. Green would be nice as the other colours seem to be yellow (emoticons) and white - a particularly attractive colour palette IMHO . Annan Angler what do you think ? ;D. Seriously, well done for getting this together guy's - I am certain it will work.

A suggestion regarding the posting of "rude" words. Can anything be done about Jungle thingy, salthingyer, westhingyer, thingy fish etc? Gets confusing doesn't it?

Re. Star rating and name hierarchy.
At the moment we each have only one star against our names but, as the number of posts each person submits increases so the star rating will also increase. This can sometimes result in competitions between some of the less serious members to jack up the number of posts to get to the next 'star' level. As a result even sensible fishing related topics may be hi-jacked and turned into a series of one line (or even one word or single smiley) replies. The result is a lowering of the quality of debate and disruption of many otherwise interesting topics. I suggest that the number of posts required to progress to more than one 'star' be set at an impossibly high level - say 100,000- in order to avoid the kind of problems noted above. It might be useful though if the administrator had the maximum number of stars as this would help to focus the members attention on any administrative postings.
The same argument applies to having a name hierarchy - Lurker, Poacher etc. and I think it would be useful if we were all called just plain old 'Member'. Again the only exceptions might be the administrator or any of his team of advisers when posting in their official capacity.
Dave.

I think the star system can be disabled by salmo. I've no strong feelings on the matter, but I see your point Dave.

I would echo Dave's concern about having a hierarchy of members. I am not sure that the star rating system can be disabled but it can certainly be set, as Dave suggests, to ensure that all members remain equal in this respect.

Forgot to add that I am also uncertain of the usefulness of the 'Karma' function.

No the lodge is Wy ny enabled so the laptop works, it also allows me in to the old forum where I was banned by IP address. That should ruin Sringers tea in the morning. The Arndilly information on the Ardilly thread is grossly inaccurate and posted by a new moderator as well but when the expert on the Spey is banned standards will plummet.
