A friend of mine, in the Lancaster area, asked if I knew of anybody in our area who could spend a bit of time with him to point him in the right direction on fly fishing, ( convert from still water fishing )As my friend, and fellow forum member Spaterunner has just passed his AAPGAI I gave him a call and they sorted out a meet. I have just had a call from the convert and he says he was very pleased with the patience, and consideration that he received off Geoff ( Spaterunner ).He could not get over how patience he was with him. Meeting up again soon.
Good one Geoff.

Patience and a clear delivery of instruction are essentials when trying to teach anyone - anything. As an 'educator' (arguably) myself I firmly believe that when the 'pupil' is instilled with confidence in whatever they are undertaking then the rest just falls into place.
Well done Geoff.

Blimey gentlemen thanks to all of you for your support. Dave (Lunesman) has pushed me once again under the spotlight with his trademark subtlety - NOT!!!! All joking aside thanks Dave, the bingo gods wil smile on you if I get my way As an 'educator' (arguably) myself I firmly believe that when the 'pupil' is instilled with confidence in whatever they are undertaking then the rest just falls into place. I agree with this totally. A mate in South Wales who gave me some mentoring for the assessment rests heavily on the 'lightbulb moment' of teaching. I picked up on it very quickly and have adopted it as my own. The point at which the student is awakened to their own potential by a few brief words of explanation or simple demonstration of a technique. I get the feeling that the student feels empowered. I am sure that you know what I mean by this Andy. The confidence factor from self realisation is the best teaching aid in my very limited repertoire. www.silversalmon.co.uk
