Being away I have been looking through various fishing reports with not to much in the way of catches and read of a 23 lbs fish caught at Grantown with photo posted www.speyfishing-grantown.co.uk/saianews.htm . I know my thoughts about it being returned but just wonder about your thoughts to me some people just don't care as long as they are catching jus now. Herbie

My views on total catch and release are well documented on this forum. The request of ASFB and Spey Fishery Board not to kill salmon caught on the Spey up until 15th May has of course now expired so you can expect to see a good few more dead salmon in photos from now on.
In my personal view salmon are as scarce on North East rivers including the Spey, Findhorn, Don and Dee as they have ever been and if the species is to survive there needs to be even greater restraint from salmon anglers, particularly( but not exclusively) on Association waters.
Many of these photographed fish will supposedly be bleeders or deeply hooked fish which couldn't be returned ??

Been in a while that one! I thought the picture of a dead coloured hen of CG2 was bad, but this is worse. The comments about reporting sea trout catches in case total C & R gets introduced are pretty poor also.

Is it just me but i would never think of posting a photo of a fish unless it was minted. At the backend we usualy get a few cock fish well over the twenty mark that are coloured and any photos taken are only for ourselfs. Bob
