Has anyone fished this river this year, I am tempted to have a day, I see on Fishpal there are three beats on the ticket, any advice on the fishing or accessibility?

Its years since I fished the Ericht Burnie.
However, I believe the 'Ericht Fishings' are left bank and stretch from around about Craighall at the upper end down to Aberbothrie at the bottom end. The water below Blairgowrie flows through arable land whilst the upper half of the river, around Craighall and down to Blair Bridge, flows through bed-rock and is quite 'highland' in appearance. Remember you have Blairgowrie and District AA on the opposite bank from you - day tickets below Blair Bridge and club members only above BB. Or that's how it used to be.
Better having a day on Cortachy Castle IMO.

Has anyone fished this river this year, I am tempted to have a day, I see on Fishpal there are three beats on the ticket, any advice on the fishing or accessibility? The both banks used to be leased by the Blairgowrie AC but a couple of years ago lost the full length of the left bank to a small syndicate for a reported £170,000. They only have the town water down to the kitty Swanson bridge on the right bank. This bank is a jungle with the main river bank full of trees with little access to the river. There are a few of course but one has to battle through head high weeds and other spate debris. The club members don't really fish it that much down the lower end and make no effort to strim paths down to the few pools that one can get into the water to fish. I was there yesterday and it was heavy going. Not just to get to the water but due to the low water conditions. I was speaking to a club member who said they await a decent run through next spate as its been very quite on the river this season so far. The left bank, the one you see advertised has a much better access and lovely pools but needs water and would be a waste of time going until they get a good spate. As it runs off extremely quickly you should try and get on it when it starts to drop or at least the next day. The fish mostly tend to skelp through the beats to the leap and Craighall areas, but I'm sure Ronnie Marshall the syndicates Ghillie will know best area to put you into. Good luck and let us know how many you got! Kenny
