More and more it would appear that national and multi national firms are acquiring salmon fishing rights bought or leased to provide corporate entertainment. Does this put put unreasonable pressure on salmon stocks and on the river environment itself?

Probably not, Firstly there is a finite number of fishing days available. So if the corporate days stopped then private rods would simply replace them. No more or less fishing. Like poor shots on corporate shooting days, not all participants can fish well so maybe they would catch less than a good team of private anglers. Malc, are you talking about the Corporate boys taking a beat for the whole season or just days?

Corporate rods tend to be poor anglers and catch less fish, but often the ghillies (or a few local rods) more than make up for their deficiencies! Any extra interest, whether corporate or other, normally drives up the price.

Having watched and fished on the opposite bank of corporate rods,,it does become annoying with their awful casting ,usually landing in a heap on water I'm fishing too. Because these guys are maybe once or twice a year men/women most of the fish they catch get the chap,,,i along with tweedsider even witnessed a fellow let his gillie cast for him,,and land a fish as he was incapable,,the fish got the chap of course,,and ill bet he took it home to his loving wife declaring,,,"look what i caught tday",,,for me corporate fishing is fishing,s bad egg,,,even though they will take less fish than the skilled angler.
