Whatever happened to flaming June?
The cool and unsettled conditions since the first few days of the month have prompted many to sardonically comment on the absence of a “Flaming June”.
But Flaming June was originally nothing to do with early summer heat; rather, it was the title of an aesthetic late-Victorian painting by the artist Fredric Lord Leighton completed in 1895, a year before his death.
Well, I didn't know that.

On the subject of weather! Yesterday was our local village Galaday and of course it rained, then went off to tease us all, then came back on again. I waited till 2pm to make sure the rain was staying off for at least, the duration of the time it takes to cook some food. Yeh you guessed right, even though those over paid forecastors said it would come back on at 4pm, it came on, and this is true! - the minute I laid the food on the BBQ grill. Ahh Scottish summer weather for you

Unbelievable. Look at the latest rainfall radar animation on the Met office website. Everywhere is Scotland seems to be getting a good soaking apart from the Hebrides. The estuaries are now full of fish with nowhere to go.

I dont think we are short of water now. 16.4ft on the EA Gauge at Caton. I should say not. The river has gone pover the meadows and is currently over the main road to Lancaster. This is like something from the Old Testament. You will be able to fish for them off the motorway aat this rate
