Looks like that's the thaw has started in earnest. Interesting to see if catches pick up on the back of the current rise in levels.

The sand martens have arrived on Speyside today, poor wee things, how can they find food in sub-zero white out conditions. Strangely it has been Tuesday this week for the last 3 years.

The rain has turned to sleet and snow just outside Aberdeen this evening and is starting to lie on the ground. I hope the roads aren't too bad tomorrow on the way to Cambus O May. At least the wind forecast isn't as bad for tomorrow as it was today, I gave up fishing on Tilbouries after a couple of hours today due to the gale force upstream wind along with the rain and sleet.

Tried to get to Cambus o May but got as far as 2 mile up the Portsoy to Huntly road and turned back. Heard it was bad around Inverurie as well so that route was out of bounds - nae fishing the day.

For those of you who are interested, try the link below for road conditions - trafficscotland.org/lev/Some good footage of webcams - A96 blocked at Glens of Foundland - Grantown and Ballindalloch roads look bad - Slochd section of the A9 looks bad as well - not a day for travelling in these areas unless you own a tractor. Ross.
